About this book

Language: German

Each bird has a personal destiny. It is not only a representative of a species or subspecies, but an individual with personal characteristics. Not every blackbird or sparrow is the same. On the basis of thorough studies, but also on the basis of often little known and forgotten amateur work Dr. Walter A. Sontag provides here an exemplary cross-section through the challenges in the different life stages and life of a bird: From unhatched individual, nestling or nest leaver, until later parents or helpers. The individual approach to the environment is the focus, be it in the use of resources, weather, predators and parasites, in reproduction and breeding, or large-scale migrations. The individual also shows itself in the use of its senses, in the vocalizations and the richly varied appearance of bird individuals. The volume of ornithological appearances and life forms seems endless.
