About this product
The Ground Guard is the ideal way to protect ground bird tables from unwanted visitors such as squirrels, cats and larger birds. The guard is made from powder-coated mild steel and is easily assembled using plastic clips. The top of the guard opens allowing the feeder to be refilled and four pegs are supplied to keep the guard in place. The mesh is available in two sizes, the small mesh (3 x 7cm) limits the feeder to small garden birds whilst the large mesh (6 x 6.5cm) still allows larger birds, such as blackbirds to use the feeder.
Ideal for use with the Ground Bird Table.

HAPPY BIRDS

I’m so delighted with this Ground Guard, bought it with a Table. Unfortunately, the lady next door has 5 cats, nothing personal against them but my poor ground feeding feathered friends cannot say the same. I bought the large mesh one so the Black Birds can safely join the smaller birds at the table. It took a good few days before the first brave Robin gingerly hopped through to investigate, now it’s become the place to dine for many of our garden friends, so much so that I’m going to get another for the rear garden.

This product lets in squirrels who eat all the seed I leave for the small birds which struggle to use hanging feeders. Very disappointing.

I bought this because posses of crows and pigeons are emptying my ground feeders within minutes, I was going through 12 kg of feed every 2 weeks. However we also have ducks and pheasants who come to feed and I hoped their longer necks would let them feed through the cage, while the crows would be too wide-shouldered to reach the bowls inside. It works a TREAT, I'm so happy. The ducks aren't put off and eat as usual, the smaller birds hop in and out, and while the crows can *just* reach some seed with their long beaks, it certainly stops them from gobbling down the whole bowl in minutes. They get frustrated and have hardly visited since. The pigeons are too wary of it to try anything yet but again, it will slow down their incessant gobbling. I'm buying another one to go down near my woodshed!

SMALL MESH FEEDER

The SMALL mesh feeder successfully kept out Blackbirds, Magpies, Wood/Feral Pigeons, Collared Doves and Jackdaws. Blue tits, House Sparrows, Pied Wagtail, Robin, Dunnock all happily used. Unfortunately, Starlings were able to fit through the mesh with ease.
The clips that are included are flimsy so I had to use cable ties after it almost collapsed on one side under the weight of a Wood Pigeon. Maintenance is a bit of a hassle as it gets poo’d on a lot by the bigger birds who are trying to gain access... it is a pain to clean! We used some bamboo sticks and a ring to hold the food off the ground as rats/mice would be able to fit through the mesh.

Arrived in less that 24 hours of placing the order - brilliant delivery time!
Really good quality and really easy to put together.
So far, Rocky the robin has investigated, as have a few sparrows. No chance the pigeons will be able to get to the food. I've yet to see the blackbirds go near it so fingers crossed they like it as they were the main reason we bought this.

Got the large mesh cage to try and deter pigeons. It does that well enough but unfortunately it also prevents Blackbirds from getting the food.
