About this book

Language: English with German summaries

Heterocera Sumatrana volume 6 (the 5th "green book" volume in the series) presents here five heterocerous lepidopteran families which are all dealt with in the "Bombyces" volume of Seitz (Großschmetterlinge der Erde, vol. 10) in spite of their rather different systematic positions: Limacodidae, a family generally assigned to the ditrysian superfamily Zygaenoidea. Then two families of quite incertain affinities: Ratardidae and Callidulidae. Finally, the superfamily Bombycoidea is represented by two families: Brahmaeidae and Lasiocampidae. Thus practical rather than systematic reasons prompted the grouping of these moth families in the present volume of the series.
