The introduction presents the internal characteristics and the hinge detail of some species of the Anomalodesmata with Pandora inaequivalvis; Carditoida with Astarte fusca, Cardita calyculata, and Glans intermedia; Septibranchia with Cuspidaria cuspidata and Pecchiolia argentea; Hippuritoida with Megaxinus ellipticus, Diplodonta rotundata, Lutraria lutraria, and Tellina donacina; and Myoida with Corbula gibba and Corbula revoluta. There are alphabetic indices by species name and generic and subgeneric name. The bibliography lists 402 titles.
