About this book

Language: Portuguese

In Brazil, there are 12 orders of mammals represented by approximately 650 species. These are distributed in the orders Didelphimorphia (possums), Cingulata (armadillos), Pilosa (anteaters and sloths), Primates (macaques, monkeys and marmosets), Rodentia (rats, guinea pigs, agoutis and capybara), Lagomorpha (hares), Chiroptera (bats), Carnivora (cats, jaguars, wolves, otters, otters and pinnipeds), Perissodactyla (tapirs), Artioodactyla (pigs and deer), Cetacea (whales and dolphins) and Sirenia (manatees). Of these species, about 70 are threatened with extinction, the majority belonging to the orders Primates, Rodentia and Carnivora. Considering the intimate relationship that wild mammals have with Brazilian ecosystems, this number is certainly related to the great reduction, fragmentation and other anthropic impacts these areas are experiencing. This book represents a great advance for amateurs and professionals who care about and who want to know the exotic world of Brazilian wild mammals.
