Medicinal Plants Policy and Regulations for India provides a snapshot but contemporary regulatory mechanism relating to the utilization of non-timber forest products (NTFPs) and medicinal plants and a policy on the same. The authors have tried to identify the gaps in the NTFP and medicinal plant sectors and also suggest solutions to plug those gaps through a policy framework. Medicinal Plants Policy and Regulations for India is divided into six chapters. The introductory chapter gives the contexts of study and the conceptual framework of the medicinal plant sector, Chapter II gives details about policy and legal environmental issues. Chapter III covers details related to methodology including situation analysis. Chapter IV gives an overview of operational regulations on NTFPs in the Indian states. Chapter V gives an analysis of all the information gathered through primary and secondary sources, followed by recommendations for required actions to conserve, use sustainably and enhance medicinal plant resources. The last chapter provides policy recommendation for the sectoral agencies to facilitate the required changes.
