About this book

Published to accompany an exhibition that ran in Inverleith House from 3rd May - 6th July 2008, this publication brings together recent works on paper by the artist Louise Bourgeois and botanical teaching diagrams made in the mid-nineteenth century (by various artists) for John Hutton Balfour, former RBGE Regius Keeper. Though widely divergent in time, purpose and style, the two bodies of work show curious formal affinities, and occasionally, touch on strikingly similar themes.
