About this book

Language: Dutch

New nature in the Netherlands is nothing more but cultural landscape. This book offers thought-provoking essays on this new cultural landscape and its own take on the subject matter should appeal to many naturalists. God may have been said to create the world, but man has created the Dutch landscape. Unspoilt nature doesn't really exist in the Netherlands. But the cultural landscape of days past isn't what it used to be; old farmland has been turned into a green desert. Is this new nature the right answer?

What is a new wilderness for one person is a green lie for another, offering nothing but stinging nettles, mosquitoes and floods. Author Martin Drenthen describes the morality of nature, landscape and wilderness, and puts questions and unsolvable paradoxes in nature protection to the reader.
