The Nitrite Pocket Checker is a simple, accurate and cost-effective way of measuring nitrite levels in water. It comes in two models: the HI-707 Low Range Checker (0-999ppb), and the HI-708 High Range Checker (0-150ppm). Designed as a quicker and more accurate alternative to chemical test-kits, they require just four easy steps:
Step one: Add a sample to one of the supplied cuvettes
Step two: Insert the sample into the checker and 'zero it out'
Step three: Remove sample and add reagent.
Step four: Reinsert the sample and click the button to measure your results, or press and hold the button for three seconds for a time reaction reading.
The HI-707 uses an adaptation of the EPA diazotization method where the reaction between the nitrite and reagent creates a pink tint in the sample.
The HI-708 uses an adaptation of the Ferrous Sulfate method, where the reaction between nitrite and reagent creates a greenish/brown tint in the sample.
