This book is devoted to the bees of the subfamilies Rophitinae and Nomiinae as found in Russia and her territories. Rophitinae and Nomiinae belong to the very diverse and numerous family Halictidae and are common and important in plant pollination, many of them playing a significant role in pollination of various crops.
The general part includes historical essays exploring the subfamilies, a section on the morphology of adults, generalizing essays on biological characteristics and morphology of the preimaginal stages, and a section on the geographical distribution of the subfamilies in the Palearctic. As part of a systematic classification of these subfamilies, the book includes keys to genera and species, and detailed sketches to the 12 genera and 71 species, including diagnoses, characteristics of taxa, major taxonomic literature, data on synonymy, detailed information on distribution, data on phenology and trophic relations and summarized information on biological features. The book is illustrated with black and white morphological line drawings and maps, as well as plates with colour photos of bees.
