About this book

Language: French

This guide is a synthetic and practical work designed for easy identification of the flora of France and neighbouring countries. It includes the most common species, those found at every step in the plains and hills, in the mountains or in the Mediterranean region. That's 100 families, 500 genera and 1000 species, which is already one-fifth of the French flora.

The work is hierarchical and begins by determining the family, with the study of the type genus illustrated by a floral dissection, then the different genera, and finally the species. It is a scientific work associating for the first time: illustrated keys, the only way to reach the exact solution (to name the species), a high quality colour illustration for each species (extracted from La Grande Flore en Couleur de Gaston Bonnier), the ecology of the plant (with a distribution map for ligneous plants), etc. The nomenclature is up to date, but all the synonyms used in the old floras are mentioned.

The book doubles as a small manual of plant biology rich in information: for each family, morpho-anatomical, biological, ecological and plants important for humans are given.
