Swift populations within the UK are in serious decline due in large part to the widespread removal of suitable nesting sites, having experienced 50% fall in numbers between 1995 and 2016. The installation of swift boxes is therefore highly beneficial.  

Constructed from thick, FSC grade plywood and with a downward-angled entrance hole, the plywood swift box is an excellent way to provide a home for these important birds. The overhanging roof ensures that rain is not blown into the nesting cavity while the large internal area provides plenty of room for the nest. If swifts do not take up residence the box is perfectly suitable for a wide variety of other small birds, making it suitable as a general-purpose box as well. 

The box should be fixed 5 meters above ground, on the non-south facing side of a building, and with a clear flight path to the entrance hole. It has 4 grooves on the back plate to fix the box securely to a flat surface. It is recommended to periodically check the fixing to make sure it remains secure.

The nestbox is made from Plywood and does not require cleaning.
