About this book

Language: Russian

The book is devoted to the results of many years of hydrobiological studies at the Institute of Biology of the Southern Seas, now the Institute of Marine Biological Research, which were done within the framework of the agreement on scientific and technical cooperation with the Kazantip Nature Reserve, located in the northeastern part of the Crimean peninsula on the shore of the Azov Sea. It briefly discusses the history of the formation of this unique natural monument – Cape Kazantip, which is a reef, formed millions of years ago. The book gives much information about the original species diversity, quantitative indicators, their temporal and spatial variability, and the biology and ecology of different groups of aquatic organisms: phytoplankton, zooplankton, benthic animals and fish. The state of rare and endangered species, as well as the impact of invasive species on native biocenoses is also discussed.
