About this book

Language: Czech with English summaries

The four-part monograph series Vegetation of the Czech Republic systematically summarizes what is known about the types of plant communities occurring in the Czech Republic. It describes the floristic composition, ecology, dynamics, expansion and economic importance of vegetation in a structured text, which is rich in color photographs of vegetation, distribution maps, graphs and comparative tables of species composition. At the same time it proposes a critically revised classification of plant communities, which was based on an analysis of tens of thousands relevés contained in the Czech National Phytosociological database. The first three parts, published between 2007 and 2011, were devoted to non-forest vegetation. The fourth and final part of the series completes the set with information on the vegetation of forests and scrubland. The book is an essential reference guide for naturalists, conservationists, farmers, teachers, students and all others interested in the biodiversity of the Czech Republic.
