Biography

Ferdinand Fouque (1828-1904) published widely in the fields of geology and archaeology. He was awarded the Cuvier Prize in 1876 and served as president of the French Academy of Sciences. Alexander R. McBirney is professor emeritus in the department of geological sciences at the University of Oregon. He is the author of Volcanology and Igneous Petrology.
