William Turner: A New Herball

Facsimile edition of this classic work, which reproduces the beautiful lettering and woodcut illustrations, originally published in three parts during the latter part of the sixteenth century. A New Herball was the first English herbal with any pretensions to scientific status, and, as such, it provided a landmark in the history of botany and herbalism with its scientific thoroughness. To aid the twentieth century reader, a modernised transcript, together with keyed-in notes, a glossary of unfamiliar terms and comprehensive indexes have been provided, and there are also biographical notes on Turner himself. Available as individual volumes or in a set.
