25 Year Environment Plan
On Thursday 11th January the UK government announced its 25-year plan to improve the environment.
Outlining their intention to leave the country in a better state following a single generation, the plan covers such topics as using land sustainably, enhancing the beauty of natural landscapes, reconnecting people with nature to promote health and wellbeing, reducing waste and protecting the oceans.
Although generally received in a positive light, environment and animal welfare organisations are now calling for an Environment Act which will provide the legal framework required to ensure that the plans are followed through. Listen to Theresa May speak about the pledge to eradicate plastic waste and read the response of the Wildlife and Countryside Link which provides a voice for 47 environmental organisations in the UK.
