NHBS Grapevine - The Best of Our Books & Equipment
#43
26th January 2017

About Us
In this edition: We have a moth theme with a new blog post on the finer points of moth traps, a round-up of the remarkable work of the illustrator Richard Lewington, a kit-bag from Luanne packed full of moth trapping kit and a new species of moth from Mexico which looks uncannily like new US President Donald Trump.

We also highlight the publication of the Illustrated International Checklist of the Birds of the World, a new book celebrating the birds of Seychelles, a key to the British false scorpions and an atlas to the mammals of Ireland.

Don’t forget our regular look at Leon’s Bookshelf.

Richard Lewington
Over forty years, Richard Lewington has built up a reputation as one of Europe's finest wildlife artists. His illustrations of butterflies and other insects are the foundation of many exceptional field guides, and we are eagerly anticipating the publication of the third revised edition of the Field Guide to the Moths of Great Britain and Ireland in February.

International Illustrated Checklist of the Birds of the World
This month sees the publication of the second volume of the International Illustrated Checklist of the Birds of the World. The culmination of one the most ambitious publishing projects ever undertaken in bird taxonomy, it contains full-colour illustrations of every extant bird species currently known, and builds on the foundation of the 17-volume Handbook of the Birds of the World. The new volume on Passerines completes the Checklist; it is co-published by Lynx Ediciones and Birdlife International.

The Neopalpa donaldtrumpi was described by researcher Vazrick Nazari, of Ottawa, Canada.
The name was inspired by the striking golden flakes covering its head, which he likened to Donald Trump's famous mop.
