About this product

The Slimline Wooden Bat Box is a a traditional style of bat box with access opening at the base and access ladder. It is made from FSC-certified European redwood in a longer, slimmer design than the standard box, and is suitable for siting on trees and buildings. Inside, grooves in the wood provide a rough interior for the bats to grip easily and the lid is hinged for inspection.

Wooden boxes are subject to fluctating temperatures so ideally you should site three boxes around a tree facing different directions and in a fairly sheltered position. This will provide the best choice of environments for the bats. Wooden boxes should not be painted or treated with any type of preservative, as these can harm the bats. The box can be expected to last 5-10 years.

Installation is achieved using the two pre-drilled holes (top and bottom) to fix the box to a wall or tree. If siting on a tree it is recommended to use tree-friendly nails (not included).
