About this product

The Tascam DR-40 Portable Handheld Recorder has two in-built condenser microphones which are adjustable, meaning that they can be used in both AB and XY positions. Additional XLR inputs are also available, letting you record on four channels simultaneously. 48V phantom power is provided at the XLR inputs.

The DR-40 records in 24-bit/96kHz PCM WAV and will also record in MP3 format. An auto-record function triggers the unit to begin recording when a pre-set noise level is exceeded, and an optional pre-record buffer will save up to two seconds of sound prior to the record button being pressed. A built in speaker lets you play back your recordings in the field and a line-out socket lets you listen through headphones. Records onto an SD or SDHC card (up to 32GB) with a 2GB card included.

Powered by 2 x AA batteries (included), the DR-40 will record for up to 20 hours on one set of batteries. A USB connection cable and user manual are also included.
