About this book

In this book, Senator John Kerry and his wife, the philanthropist Teresa Heinz, take an inspiring look at the ways in which individuals and organisations are working to change the environment for the better.

In this inspirational new book, long-time environmental champions John and Teresa Kerry travel through America to celebrate some of the innovative pioneers, who are determined, as individuals, small groups, whole towns and even cities, to change their environment for the better. The chapters move from the Glacier National Park to the Powder River Basin, from the mesas of New Mexico to the South Bronx. It yokes together the story of what one person can achieve (i.e. the doctor who stopped the power station), to those responding to the greatest challenge of our era: global warming. The book shows how the more people gather together, the greater their potential achievement while at the same time confronting the scale of the environmental menace we face if we take no action.
