About this product

This attractive nest box is made from Woodcrete, a blend of wood, concrete and clay which will not rot, leak, crack or warp. Renowned for their durability, Woodcrete boxes are guaranteed for 25 years.

The design of the box makes it ideal for siting on an external wall or fence, although it can also be attached to a tree. Installation is simple using the screw hook and wall plug supplied. The open front makes the box particularly attractive to pied wagtails, spotted flycatchers, robins and wrens, all of which prefer this style of nest box. Please see below for siting guidelines for each of these species.

The front panel can be easily removed so that the box can be cleaned during the autumn once the nesting birds have left.

Siting guidelines:
* Pied wagtails - Install the box on a tree or building at a height of up to 5 metres. Areas close to grassland and water are preferable.
* Spotted flycatchers - Install the box on a tree at a height of 2 - 4 metres with a clear outlook. Alternatively, the box can be sited on a building within ivy or other climbing plants.
* Robins - Bury the box in thick vegetation. Boxes can be low to the ground in areas where predation by cats is not a problem.
* Wrens - The box should be well hidden in thick, preferably thorny, undergrowth.
