About this book

This book follows the author's two earlier monographs, Polymita: The Most Beautiful Land Snail of the World and Liguus: The Flamboyant Tree Snails. Like those books, this is a complete study of the shells of the Cuban terrestrial mollusks in the genus Viana, looking at their past studies, their ecology, biology, and taxonomy, as well as studying Viana in the field. Although there have been articles written about these shells in the past, this is the first book about these shells that illustrates in colour all of the species of shells and living animals that make up this family. Many collectors have little interest in these shells because they are only familiar with dead specimens that are broken and generally have very poor colour. Adrian's photographic skills shown in this book will change the way that we think about these shells moving forward.
