About this book

Language: German

Hazel grouse live in the lowlands and the mountains of natural and near-natural, multi-layered mixed forests. In many regions the birds are declining or already extinct. As sensitive indicators they react to the segregation and fragmentation of the forest, but can be promoted by certain forms of nature-friendly forestry. This book by six well-known grouse specialists gives a detailed and largely new overview of the biology of Germany's smallest grouse. In addition, it contains a monograph on the almost unknown Chinese grouse and a detailed comparison of the hazel grouse with the North American ruffed grouse.
