About this book

Alfred Barton Rendle was a renowned English botanist, keeper of Botany at the Natural History Museum and botany editor for the Encyclopaedia Britannica in 1911. The Classification of Flowering Plants is perhaps his best-known work. Volume one was first published in 1904, and this second volume followed in 1925. It was updated in 1938 and remained in print until the late 1970s. These works are now being reissued by Cambridge. Within this second volume of his prolific study, Rendle's focus is Dicotyledons. The various sections of the volume address these flowering plants, as well as Dialypetalae and Sympetalae. Each of these sections is sub-divided into chapters on the Grades and Orders of the plants which lie within these groups. As with its companion volume, this book is extensive, illustrated and informative. Its scope and detail will continue to impress the reader today.

Contents

1. Grade A: Monochlamydeae; 2. Grade B: Dialypetalae; 3. Grade C: Sempetalae; References; Index.
