This definitive book on The Shrimp is the result of the contributions of 67 international authors. It contains a wealth of scientific knowledge which usually can only he located in a fragmented manner in specialised journals or was presented in industry conferences that rarely reaches a wide audience. It brings together the worlds of aquaculture science and industry production. The Shrimp Book includes descriptions of farming practices and the actual implementation of new technologies
The content is structured into six parts: shrimp farming, the shrimp as an animal, current farming practices, optimisation of feeds, biosecurity and post harvest.
lt is addressed to shrimp producers and service providers, researchers and students. It compiles, in one single volume, the full depth of the academic perspective together with the most recent developments in field practice.
The Shrimp Book illustrates the important interaction between the academic and industry worlds. lt facilitates access to information, knowledge and new ideas as well as bringing in material for debate and discussion.

Victoria Alday-Sanz has over 18 years experience working mainly on aquatic animal health: shrimp and fish diseases, diagnostics, health management, sanitary legislation and biosecurity. She has collaborated with organisations such as EU, FAO, EFSA, OIE and ADB and has also consultant for shrimp farmers, consultancy agencies, insurance and financial companies. She is an author of over 70 works and one patent including: 2 books, 1 book chapter, 27 refereed journal papers, +40 industry magazine articles and articles in Latin American research, industry magazine and newspapers. Numerous reports for international agencies. In her time she has travelled extensively for research, consultancy and advisory work, project management and training in South East Asia, Latin America and Europe.
In five sections, 67 authors cover topics starting with history of shrimp farming, role of smallscale shrimp farmers in the global trade, different types of productions systems including the biofloc technology etc. --"INFOFISH "(July 2011)
