About this book

Language: Bilingual in English and Dutch

The North Sea area is important for many birds: to breed, to overwinter, or as fueling stop during migration. Author Sijmen Hendriks travelled the area around the North Sea during four-and-a-half years, photographing birds and the landscapes in which they live. His images reveal both majestic natural areas with breathtaking panoramas and grim industrial areas or coastal cities. In a densely populated area of intense economic activity the birds appear to go about their business unfazed. Unfortunately appearances deceive. Nature, and with it the birds of the North Sea area, are under great pressure. This book showcases the splendour of the bird life here, to emphasise what is at stake.

Cliffs, mud, air, and sea: this book is a bird journey through seven North Sea coastal areas
- Beautiful photography of birds in their natural environment
- Includes brief information on the birds and areas photographed
