About this product

This Urban Insect Hotel is part of the contemporary range of wildlife habitats that have a sleek design for city living. It has dual keyhole hanging points so that it can be hung either as a diamond or a square depending on your preference. The outer shell of the bee nester is made from Clayplas+ which is a composite material of 70% clay and 30% recycled plastics. This material is very durable and comes with a 10 year materials guarantee as well as great environmental credentials due to the recycled element.

The removable inner section of the bee nester is made from natural FSC timber and drilled canes. The selected canes and the holes are the optimum size for solitary bees but other insects may overwinter in the nester too. Solitary bees are non-swarming bees which rarely sting and are safe around families and pets. Solitary bees are fantastic for flower and garden pollination and have a fascinating life cycle which you can observe by installing this bee nester.

The ideal location to hang your Urban Bee Nester is between 0.75m and 1.5m above ground in a warm sunny position, preferably to catch a little morning sun. Facing South / South East is perfect.
