The edition will be to original size (8 quarto volumes plus folio atlas) and all plates, charts and maps reproduced to the highest production values, making this edition attractive to specialist collectors as well as to research libraries. The first three volumes concentrate on Cook's voyages to the Southern Hemisphere on board the Dolphin, the Swallow, and the Endeavour. The fourth and fifth volumes cover his voyages on board the Resolution and Adventure, in the years 1772, 1773, 1774, and 1775 when he travelled towards the South Pole and round the world. The final three volumes cover his voyages round North America from the Pacific and onwards to Hawaii.
