About this book

This book contains the proceedings of the International Conference on the Conservation of Tropical Biodiversity, which was organised from 12-16 June 1990 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The objectives of this conference were to provide an opportunity for reviewing recent developments in the conservation of biodiversity in the tropical region, and to incorporate these ideas and findings into action plans that can be applied in the conservation of the diverse ecosystems.

The papers presented covered a wide variety of subjects ranging from various approaches to conservation, tropical biodiversity and its management, the influences and impacts of human and social development as well as tourism on conservation, the use of remote sensing for conservation management of natural resources and of course, conservation education.
