Conflicts between protected species and fisheries take many forms. Fishing may be a threat to protected species, whereas certain protected species may negatively affect the profitability of fishing. This report concentrates on the species that are not a target of fishing, but with which fishing interacts in one way or another. Examples in the Nordic area of such species are the grey seal, the harbour porpoise and the cormorant.
