Edited By: Yang Qi
The 30th International Geological Congress was held in Beijing, China in August 1997. Leading scientists convened to present their findings and views to the international geological research community. Volume 18b of 26 focuses on the geology of fossil fuels, specifically coal. All articles in the proceedings have been refereed and keynote papers have been included in Volume 1. These proceedings aim to present a view of contemporary geology and should be of interest to researchers in the geological sciences.
The applications of high-resolution sequence stratigraphy to paralic and terrestrial coal-bearing strata - two case studies from the Western North China Paleozoic Basin and the Tulufan-Hami Jurassic Basin, Li Baofang et al; petrology and depositional environment of Early Jurassic coal, Western Australia, K.K. Sappal and N. Suwarna; depositional evolution and coal accumulation of Ordos Basin, Wang Shuangming et al; geologic factors affecting the abundance, distribution and speciation of sulfur in coals, C.-L. Chou; multistage metamorphic evolution and superimposed metamorphism through multithermo-sources in Chinese coal, Yang Qi et al; variations in coal rank parameters with depth correlated with Variscan compressional deformation in the South Wales coalfield, R. Gayer and R. Fowler; coalification jumps, stages and mechanisms of high-rank coals in China, Qin Yong and Jiang Bo; advances of the exploration and research of oil from coal in China, Huang Difan and Qin Kuangzong; study on Jurassic coal and carbonaceous mudstone as oil source rocks in Tuha Basin, North-Western China, Jin Kuili et al; reaction kinetics of coalification in the Ordos Basin, China, Liu Dameng et al.
