This text examines the production and management aspects of the cattle sector in the Mediterranean basin. The state of the art in cattle production was measured through a major survey in the early-1990s. Following a paper based on the data collected through this survey, a number of papers present study cases of the cattle sector in the Mediterranean region. A major part of the book relates to the changing production systems, influences on technology applications and the introduction of more specialized genetic material.
