Jean-Louis Moret is a botanist at the Cantonal Botanic Museum is Lausanne. He is frequently asked for the names of plants and in particular those of trees and other woody species. In order to respond more efficiently to these requests, he began, almost 20 years ago, to compile a catalogue of the names of ligneous plants in Switzerland and the surrounding European countries. This book represents a complete reclassification of the collected data in the form of a multi-lingual glossary. It is composed of two main parts:
- a glossary of Latin Names (Latin - French/German/Italian/English;
- an index in each language (French/German/Italian/English - latin).
The work is completed by a bibliography, and is designed to help both amateurs interested in trees and professionals such as forestry workers, nurserymen, landscape gardners, botanists and dendrologists, as well as linguists searching for correct translations.
