About this book

Language: French

The lizard taking a sunbath, the grass snake which dives silently into the pond at the slightest warning, the green tree frogs which croak on spring evenings to attract females, amphibians and reptiles belong to the image of unspoiled nature. They also haunt our imagination populated by salamanders, dragons and snakes. Unfortunately, most native species are becoming scarce, with some even on the brink of extinction. The reasons for this regression are as diverse as the representatives of these two animal groups.

The book presents all the amphibians and reptiles of Switzerland, with criteria allowing their identification. The pages devoted to the different species allow you to discover their often discreet behaviour: how and where these animals live, what happens to them in winter, where to observe them, what their requirements are, what threats weigh on them and, the crucial question, what can we do to protect them?

The authors suggest measures to protect the landscape, but also give advice on how to encourage amphibians and reptiles in your own garden. Many protection programs are presented. It is worth living with snakes and toads.
