Language: Bilingual in English and Portuguese
Due to its high concentrarion of endemic and threatened species, the state of Rio de Janeiro stands out as one of the Atlantic forest regions that deserve high priority in terms of conservation. Among the more than 750 species that occur in this state, about 30% are endemic to the Atlantic forest biome.

A large proportion of the 175 species depicted are endemic to the Atlantic forest biome and a number of these are in danger of extinction.
