About this book

This is a story about the geology of Kansas and the geologists at the University of Kansas, both geology department faculty and Survey scientists. KU was founded in 1866 and from that time on geology or earth science has been taught, and in 1892 the current state geological survey, a research division of the university, was activated. In the past century and a half, notable contributions to geology have been made by these scientists and teachers and almost eight hundred students have completed their advanced degrees here. In addition, many thousands have been exposed to geology via course work on the subject.
