Increment borers are used for taking a core sample from a tree trunk which can then be used to evaluate the age and soundness of the tree. These samples are also useful for checking for decay, pollution, chemical penetration and wood density. Borers can also be used to examine old buildings and ships.
Haglöf borers are manufactured from high quality Swedish steel. The bit has a PTFE coating to reduce friction and protect against rust and resin. To remove the core from the borer an extractor will be required - this is included with the borer and is stored securely inside the handle. An optional borer starter will also help to prolong the lifetime of your borer bit and make the initial drilling process much easier.
These increment borers have a diameter of 5.15mm and are available with a 200mm, 300mm or 400mm bit length. They have a triple thread tip which penetrates at a rate of 12mm per turn.
Please contact us if you require a size of borer which is not listed here.
