About this book

Language: German

Natural forest reserves are protected areas in which man uses no wood and nature can simply be nature. The forest ecosystem can develop unaffected by man – and as a result show a striking dynamics. Understanding this is of central importance for effective conservation, and efficient forest management and forestry research .

How forest dynamics has developed in Swiss forest reserves since 1960, in what way natural forests differ from managed forests and how they revert to primal forests are key points in this book. For this tt relies on the results of 50 years of research in Swiss forest reserves, which is made available here to a wide audience for the first time.
