This book describes the progress in electricity conservation in Brazil and the potential for further efficiency improvements. It indicates how implementation of electricity conservation measures can be accelerated, and how those in the U.S. and other countries can help Brazil. Chapters cover: technologies for electricity conservation; barriers to implementing more efficient electricity use; electricity conservation policies; industrial structure and electricity use; demand forecasting; and scenarios for future electricity use. The Brazilian experience provides insights and lessons that are relevant throughout the world.
