About this book

More than 75 years have passed since Kiefer (1914) published his monumental treatment of the Bethylidae. Since that time, most taxonomic work on the Bethylidae has been limited to specialists focusing attention on revisionary studies of particular zoogeographical or political regions. Significant factors limiting global study of the Bethylidae have been the diffuse and volumous literature, and the large number of zoological names within the family. This catalogue represents an attempt at compiling all available names and the taxonomic and zoological literature pertaining to these names. The catalogue is a step toward a comprehensive, modern understanding of this numerically large, scientifically interesting and taxonomically difficult group of aculeate Hymenoptera.
