This is the first book is about Chinese Phoridae, a family of flies. The book is divided into two volumes, the book includes an overview of Phoridae classification, morphological characteristics, economic importance, taxonomic status of each subfamily, identification keys, and species accounts. The book describes 87 kinds Phoridae, 222 genera and 22 new species, seven genera that are recorded as new for China, and four new species. Species records are accompanied by a full citation, morphological description, geographical distribution and identification feature. For new species there is a morphological description of the type specimen, location of the type specimen, identifying characteristics, along with an English description. At the end of the book the reader can find references, a 83-page English abstract, and indices of Chinese and scientific names.

本 书是有关中国蚤蝇的第一本著作。全书分上、下两册，上册包括概述、蚤蝇亚科好裂蚤蝇亚科（不包含异蚤蝇属）的分类；下册包括异蚤蝇属及其他亚科分类。本书 为上册，主要介绍蚤蝇科的研究历史及现状、形态特征、经济重要性、分类地位、各亚科分属检索表、分种检索表及种类记述。书中共记述蚤蝇222属87种其中 22个新种、7个中国新纪录属、4个中国新纪录种。对于已知种，均附有完整的引证、形态描述、地理分布和鉴别特征图；对于中国新纪录种，有观察标本记载； 对于新种，有形态描述‘、模式标本记载 保存地点、鉴别特征，并附英文记述。全书插图287幅。书末附有参考文献，英文摘要，中国蚤蝇中文名和拉丁文学名索引。
