Mushrooms grow also above the timber line and north of the polar circle. Most of them are small, others large, and some are even edible. The species are mainly the same in all alpine and arctic regions. The typical arctic-alphone mycoflora differs considerably from that of the lowlands. The present volume contains species photographed in the Swiss Alps.
