About this book

Language: French

Soils are home to living communities that exceed our capacity for perception due to their microscopic size, but also their incredible abundance: a single gram of soil can contain several billion bacteria and millions of fungi! In this same gram of soil, we can distinguish between 100,000 and a million species of bacteria ... Nothing in our daily environment, except a starry sky, prepares us for such an abundance and diversity.

Researchers specializing in microbial ecology of the mixed research unit "Agroecology", attached to INRA Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, have conducted an inventory of soil bacterial communities in France. Based on the most advanced techniques of DNA sequencing, this work has led to the realization of this atlas which offers us a panorama of these bacterial communities, raising awareness of their importance in soil quality and fertility.

A unique work, both in its subject and in its presentation, it allows readers to comprehend the bacterial soil world.
