The book Economic Botany of the Central Andes documents the use of Andean plants in Bolivia, Peru and Ecuador and their relationahip to different human cultures, as expressed in the traditions, productive perspective, management, and conservation within those cultures. This work covers a unique perspective that has been developed by the participation of 52 authors in 32 chapters. These chapters propose visions and considerations of plant richness that can be experienced throughout different landscapes in the Andes, from 1000 m elevation towards the snow-capped summits. Based on the consideration and description of certain groups of plants and vegetation formations, it highlights their economic importance at local, regional and global level, showing a common thread of research and documentation of promising species throughout the region.
