About this book

The first edition of this work covered only the Dixidae. This new edition updates the first, incorporating an addition to the British List and more recent ecological information. The distribution maps have been replaced by summary statements for each species. A treatment of the three British species of Thaumaleidae (trickle midges) has been added. Their larvae are not uncommon, but when encountered in the field are often not recognized as belonging to this family.
