This book introduces in detail the international and Chinese chronostratigraphic division and comparison of the Carboniferous (359-299 million years ago), the regional distribution characteristics of the Carboniferous strata in China, and analyzes the sedimentary types and stratigraphic development of several major blocks in China. Thirteen representative sections were selected for detailed comprehensive stratigraphic description. In the part of the book about the introduction of strata, some of the authors of this book and other authors have published content; some of the fossil pictures in the plate have been published in other publications, and the fossil pictures of other authors are also quoted, which are explained here. In addition, a detailed analysis is given of marine fossils from the Carboniferous period in China, including conodonts, foraminifera, corals, brachiopods, cephalopods, etc. Comparison between global and Chinese strata using fossils important for stratum division are given on 130 plates, including 38 for conodonts, 34 for foraminifera (including 20 for serpentines), 20 for ammonites, 18 for brachiopods, and 20 for corals.
