Nomenclator Zoologicus

Invaluable reference for all natural history libraries. This is a continuous record of the bibliographical origins of the names of every genus and subgenus in zoology published since the 10th edition of Linnaeus' Systema Naturae in 1758. The main work, volumes 1-4 (A-Z, about 225,000 entries), covers the period 1758-1935. The supplementary volumes, 5 (1936-1945, over 18,000 entries), 6 (1946-1955, over 19,000 entries), 7 (1956-1965, over 21,000 entries), 8 (1966-1977, over 30,000 entries), and 9 (1978-1994, over 45,000 entries), should be consulted in conjunction with previous volumes. Names are listed alphabetically, with a bibliographic reference to the original description of each one and an indication of the animal group to which it belongs.
