Tasek Bera is a Wetland of International Importance (Ramsar Site) and is the largest freshwater swamp system in Malaysia. The diversity of fish is relatively high for a 6,800 hectare area. 50 species from the genera present in Tasek Bera have been selected and are accompanied by a short description of morphology, habitat preferences, distribution in Asia and economic significance. Many of the species are habitat-specific, and are rarely able to adapt to places modified by man.
