About this book

Language: English

The third of a four-volume monograph on the Agromyzidae of Hungary. The geographical scope of the work is that of the Pannonian Biogeographical Region. Not only the species hitherto found in Hungary, but also all the species which are expected to occur (or which have occurred in the Region outside of the modern Hungary) are treated.

Volume 3 contains a short Introduction and a chapter of Materials and Methods (with reference to the information in Volume 1) and the second systematic part of the subfamily Phytomyzinae with the genera Calycomyza (3 spp.), Galiomyza (3 spp.), Gymnophytomyza (1 sp.), Liriomyza (89 spp.), Metopomyza (8 spp.), Phytoliriomyza (12 spp.), Pseudonapomyza (17 spp.) and Ptochomyza (2 spp.) – a total of 135 spp., including 30 species, which are expected to occur. Eight species are described as new to science. Forty-eight other species are new for the fauna of Hungary.

The references in this volume involve works cited in this volume only (for a more complete bibliography see Volume 1). A Catalogue with occurrence data in Hungary, in the Czech Republic and in Slovakia is also given. The text closed by a taxonomic index of the Diptera taxa and an index of the plant taxa mentioned in this volume.
